Kenya’s renowned anti-corruption crusader and human rights activist Boniface Mwangi shocked viewers when he dramatically walked out on a popular live television show following a sudden appearance of a member of parliament he renders uncouth.
The show which features on KTN and hosted by journalist Jeff Koinange started well until the controversial parliamentarian Moses Kuria, who has been named in various corruption scandals and indicted for hate speech walked in.
As soon as Kuria settled down on the bench, Mwangi told his host it was time for him to leave because ” this man has been accused of hate” a suggestion that he couldn’t share a platform with him.
Kenya’s National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), an agency created to fight discrimination and ethnic divisions summoned Kuria in June over hate speech.
He allegedly called for the assassination of opposition leader Raila Odinga during a rally at the popular Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
