South Sudan Opposition Report Clash with Gov’t Troops, Says “Mission to Juba is Brewing”

South Sudan Opposition under embattled ex-president Riek Machar has reported clashes between their force and government troops under president Salva Kiir.

Riek Machar spokesperson James Gatdet Dak said the government soldiers were reportedly from Rumbek, the capital of Lakes State, central South Sudan, and the former capital of the country.

However, East Africa Daily could not verify these claims.

Dak said “hundreds of them (Government Soldiers) were found dead and their remnants fled in disarray” after the confrontation.

South Sudan Army Spokesperson  Lul Ruai Koanga said the government has resolved to crush forces loyal to to Machar. The opposition disputed the threat as a day dream.

Dak said they are planning to launch an offensive on Juba and “the mission to Juba is brewing”
